“O Magnum Mysterium” by Alex Freeman

A commentary on this week’s music by Dr. James T. Gerber, Music Associate

This week at the 11:00 am service we introduce a new group of outstanding singers to the congregation. Education is at the heart of our community here at All Saints’, and we have embarked on a new program to introduce young singers to the repertoire and traditions of Anglican choral music. We have invited four young singers to be “Choral Scholars” and join with the professional Chamber Choir on the fourth Sunday of the month to sing the Mass setting.

Being paired with our own fine singers and learning repertoire with limited rehearsal time will be a great educational experience for these four. We have drawn some of these singers from our own family ranks, as some are children of current members. They range in age from high school junior to college freshman. We are delighted to welcome soprano Landrie Simmons, alto Clare Emmert, tenor Thor Island and bass Kristian Peterson.
