“I Shall See” by  Michael John Trotta

A commentary on this week’s music by Dr. James T. Gerber, Music Associate

 

“I Shall See,” based on Psalm 27, is a new addition to the All Saints’ choral repertoire published in 2012. The text, which is  is set to music that has a simple rhythmic texture and utilizes a rich harmonic palette. This work was composed by Michael John Trotta (b. 1978), an American composer, conductor, teacher, and clinician who is currently the Director of Choral Activities and Assistant Professor of Music at Virginia Wesleyan College near Norfolk and Virginia Beach. This work was composed for the choir at St. Alban’s Episcopal Chapel at the Louisiana State University campus in Baton Rouge.
